Privacy Policy

BubbleBrain does not collect any personal data. Everything you create stays on your Mac and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud account, which we cannot access.

BubbleBrain is a task manager for macOS, developed by Gwyn Clay. This policy applies to the BubbleBrain app for Mac, however you obtained it.

Information the app handles

BubbleBrain only handles what you enter into it so the app can work:

  • Your content: tasks, subtasks, categories, due dates, priorities, daily focus entries and where you place bubbles on screen.
  • Your preferences: app settings such as display and sync options.
  • Local backups: automatic snapshots of your data, kept on your Mac so you can restore earlier versions.

BubbleBrain does not ask for your name, email address, location, contacts or any account. There is no sign-up and no login.

Where your data is stored

  • On your Mac: your data and backups are stored inside BubbleBrain's private storage area on your Mac, which macOS keeps separate from other apps.
  • In your iCloud account (optional): if you are signed in to iCloud, BubbleBrain syncs your data between your Macs using Apple's CloudKit service. It is stored in your own private iCloud database, under your Apple Account. We cannot see, read or access it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Files you export: if you export your data, the file goes only where you choose to save it.

BubbleBrain does not send your data to any server we operate. We do not run any servers for the app.

What we don't do

  • No analytics, usage statistics or crash reporting services.
  • No tracking across apps or websites, and no advertising.
  • No third-party code or services built into the app, other than Apple's own frameworks.
  • We never sell, rent or share your data, because we never receive it.

Your choices

  • Use it without iCloud: if you are not signed in to iCloud, or turn off iCloud for BubbleBrain, the app keeps everything on your Mac only.
  • Export your data: you can export your data to a file at any time from within the app.
  • Delete your data: delete items in the app, or delete the app to remove its data from your Mac. To remove synced data from iCloud, go to System Settings → your name → iCloud and manage BubbleBrain's storage there.

Children

BubbleBrain collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update it on this page and change the effective date above. If a change affects how your data is handled, we will also mention it in the app's release notes.
